-----Early in 1985 Herb Paynter parlayed his decades of printing experience into an influential position the emerging field of electronic pre-press as an author, speaker, instructor, consultant and software designer/developer. As a lithographic consultant to major software developers, Mr. Paynter's efforts were focused on issues of image capture, manipulation and reproduction, color management, and dot gain; most of which have been incorporated into current pre-press packages.
-----Mr. Paynter has produced images for print materials and Internet broadcast for manufacturers, service organizations, national publications, and his own companies. His experience in the printing industry has assisted him in producing well-behaved newspaper, magazine and catalog projects around the world. His passion for excellence is obvious in all of his work.
-----As Director of the very first national Photoshop seminar tour (Image '91/92/93), Mr. Paynter addressed thousands of attendees across the country on the topics of scanning, image manipulation, and color separation in Adobe Photoshop. He has presented seminars on scanning and color separation technologies at Seybold Conferences, Photoshop Conferences, and Publishing Conferences on four continents. He has been a presenter on the RIT Panel Discussion on Advances in Color Separation technology at several GATF conferences.----------------------------------------------Mr. Paynter has designed, and his company, ImageXpress, Inc., produced the award-winning Adobe Photoshop plug-in ScanPrepPro. This software automated all image processing

processes in Adobe Photoshop.-The software was coined the Auto-Pilot for Adobe Photoshop, and won top awards and consistently achieved "five-star" reviews, culminating with Editors' Choice Awards from two prominent publications, as well as the coveted Eddy Award in the category of Best Production Software from MacUser Magazine.
-----He has written dozens of articles for publications on the topics of scanning, color correction, color management, and electronic pre-press, and was a contributing author in the Addison-Wesley book Real World PostScript. MacWeek magazine credited Mr. Paynter with leading the pack in the field of color separations on the Macintosh.
-----He has served as the Technical Editor of the Osborne-McGraw/Hill book entitled Scanning the Professional Way. Mr. Paynter was the co-designer of Macromedia FreeHand and in 1998, he was listed in Who's Who in America, for his contribution to the desktop publishing industry.
-----ImageXpress also developed a custom version of ScanPrepPro (AP Shooter) for The Associated Press. This digital camera processing software was a staple for the AP and was used to streamline the processing of AP's image production, which included political conventions, Super Bowls, World Series, two Olympic games, two Tour 'de France races and the World Cup in Paris.
-----Mr. Paynter has written numerous articles on digital imaging techniques, hardware, and software for many printing industry and computer trade publications. Herb has also been a Contributing Editor to Photo Electronic Imaging (PEI) and Professional Photographer magazines.
